William Ace Gish, 76, of Azle, TX formerly of Hamill, SD passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30am at the Hamill Presbyterian Church in Hamill, SD. Burial will follow in the Hamill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 5-7pm at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD. William was born on August 24, 1937 in Hamill to Leonard and Rose (Snow) Gish. He grew up in the Colome/Hamill area and went to school in Hamill. He was drafted in the US Army and served from 1961 to 1963. He returned to Hamill in 1963. William moved to Hastings, NE where he met and married Dona Watson. They were married from 1959-1969. He met and was with his common law partner Mary (Schroeder) Hendrickson and her three children. They were together from 19 years until 2000. He worked and lived in several areas including Hastings, NE., Exria, Iowa, Arvada, CO., Corpus Christie, TX. He lived in Fort Worth, Dallas from 1986 until his death. William worked for Henderson Mines for 18 years. He also helped build the Eisenhower Tunnel. He had a liquor store in Mitchell, NE for 4 years. He also worked at the Coors Brewery in Golden Colorado. He also had a lunch wagon that he and his brother built and ran for 4 years. He returned from Liberty Carton Company in 2000. He lived with his nephew Bradly Gish in Azle, TX. He is survived by his two brothers: Frank (Charlene) Gish of Limestone, MA., Roland and daughter of Starke, FL, and his two sisters: Doreen of Grand Island, NE and June (Dale) Screvens of Scotts Bluff, NE, two step children; Linda McKenna of Spring Town, TX and Abner Hendrickson of Hobbs, New Mexico. Other survivors include 10 nephews, 10 nieces, and great nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, and common law partner and one step- daughter.
