Virginia Huettmann, 72, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30AM at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5-7PM at the Mason Funeral Home.
Virginia Jane "Ginny" Huettmann passed away on January 21, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born to Benjamin and Esther (Engle) McCollam in Gregory, SD on March 6, 1946. Raised on the family ranch, she attended country school, and graduated from Gregory High School. She attended the University of South Dakota, where she met her future husband, Richard Huettmann. They were married on December 19, 1965 in Vermillion at Trinity Lutheran Church.
For the last 49 years they lived in the Sioux Falls area. During part of that time, she was employed at Sioux Valley Hospital, where she was a nurse aide. She enjoyed taking care of many patients, until she was injured and disabled.
Ginny greatly enjoyed bass fishing in West River Stock Dams. She was an avid reader of mysteries and author Nora Roberts. She also enjoyed cake decorating, especially with her older sister Dortha.
Richard and Ginny were blessed with 2 daughters, Lisa Marie, and Erica Jane, and a son Richard Erik, who was born stillborn.
She was preceded in death by her son Richard Erik, daughter Lisa Marie, her parents, sister Dortha (Jack Wheeler), and 3 brothers, Steve, Delano, and Phillip.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard, a daughter, Erica (Zayne) Larson, 2 grandchildren, Moira Jane McCollam-Larson and Rayne Patrick Huettmann-Larson, a sister Rosemary (Bill) Hartland, brothers John, David, and Floyd, a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews and all of whom she loved dearly.
