Vera Patton was born May 19, 1922 in Burke, SD to Theodore and Caroline (Korb) Niemann. She passed away August 14, 2014 at the Winner Regional Nursing Home. Vera is a graduate from White River High School. On December 7, 1943, she married Duane Patton and to this union came twelve children: Frances, Verna (Peggy), Gene, June, Nancy, Patti, Marlene (Marti), Gail, Ted, Alan, Richard, and Tamra. Duane passed away July 8, 1984. Family was always important to Vera. She loved to spend as much time with her family as she could. Family fun always included playing cards, especially pinochle. She also enjoyed gardening, bingo, puzzles, crocheting, and dominos. Vera is survived by eleven children: Frances Kaiser and her children Brenda (Jim) DeLair, Roger (Tammy) Kaiser, and Rodney (Kate) Kaiser; Verna (Peggy) Patton; June Lester and her daughter Jamie (Mitch) Jackson; Nancy Reuter and her children Michael (Suzy) Reuter, Chad (Marci) Reuter, Rhonda (Dave) Bedford, and Nicole Salway; Patti McCrellias and her daughter Courtney McCrellias; Marti Patton; Gail Larsen and her children Casey, Brady, and Ali Larsen; Ted Patton; Alan (Val) Patton and their children Amanda (Jerry) Mercer and Aaron Patton; Richard (Marty) Patton and their children Tony Cornell, Jenna (Kris) Lowry, and Dexter Patton; Tamra Anderson and her son Matthew; a daughter-in-law Trish Patton and her daughter Heather (Cole) Magin; 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her parents Theodore and Caroline Niemann, son Gene Patton, son-in-law Emil Kaiser, brother Larry (Dottie) Niemann, and sister Lucille (Bill) Deering. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Colome Methodist Church in Colome. Burial will be in the Colome Cemetery, Colome. Visitation will be Monday from 5 PM to 8 PM at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.
