S tanley Kalenda Jr., 60, of Colome, SD passed away at his home on Monday, July 4, 2022.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD.  Burial will follow in the Colome City Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2022 from 5-7:00PM at the Mason Funeral Home.

Stan was born on August 23rd, 1961 in Valentine, Nebraska to Stanley and Donna Kalenda of Sparks, Nebraska.  He attended elementary school in Sparks, Nebraska and high school in Colome, South Dakota.  During his childhood the family lived by Sparks, Nebraska, south of Dallas and Colome, South Dakota.

After high school Stan married Sherry Smith near Clearfield, SD.  From this union three children were born; Misty Jo, Barbra Jane and Brian James.  They lived in Winner, SD and he worked on a ranch for Glen Gardner.  Stan and Sherry later divorced.

Stan later moved to Atkinson, NE working for National Farms for a short time, meeting Patricia at a dance in O'Neill, NE.  Then he moved to Fremont, NE where he managed DeHy, Inc.

Stan and Patricia (Tish) Cadwallader Brainard were married in Fremont, NE and from this union one child was born, Danielle Jade.  The family moved to Stan's family farm after his dad's passing in 1999.  Stan worked for his Uncle Alvin and helped his neighbors and family before starting at Mid-Dakota Meats in 2000.

Stan loved country music, dancing, fishing, hunting, gardening, ranching and giving tractor rides to all of the grankids.

Stan is survived by his mother (Donna Kalenda), brother (Dale and Nancy Kalenda-Daniel and Marcy), sister (Joanie Kalenda), spouse (Patricia), children (Misty (LJ) Veskrna-Vance, Joey, James Veskrna, Barb (Michael) Kalenda-Alyson, Jayden Blacksmith, Brian (Katie) Kalenda and Danielle (Steve) Kalenda-Jasper Kalenda), stepchildren (Tommy Nekuda-Malaki (Taylor) Nekuda, Tawny (Jeff) Harris, Connie (Mike) Dostal- Annie, Becky, Tashie, Chris, Ben Dostal, Jake Brainard-Makayla (Charlie), Maddy, Ally, Wristan, Mike (Angela) Brainard-Alex (Ty) Austin, Josh McMillen, Cassedy, Nikki (Travis) Fletcher-Dalton (Whitney), Cameron (Natalie), Bailey, Sidney), great-grandchildren; Beaudel Harris, Lane and Noah Johnson, Tate and Kenzie Austin, Beckett Zurcher, Brixton, Burke and Kane Fletcher, and many cousins and friends.

Stan is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, father (Stanley), grandchildren (Jayson Blacksmith, Cord Nekuda, Alexandra Dostal), stepdaughter (Sandy Nekuda).
