Obituary

Sally was born at home on March 4, 1921 north of Witten, SD the fourth of six children born to Elza and Gladys (Gould) McKay. She attended school at Witten until the 5th grade when they moved to the Ideal community. There she drove the school bus which was a team of horses with a tin covered wagon for 3 years while going to school in Ideal. Sally was united in marriage to the love of her life, Raymond Schuyler from Carter, on February 27, 1938 in Winner. To this union 3 children were born. Together they farmed in the Carter and Witten area until 1945 when they bought and moved to a farm near Hamill, which is now owned and operated by her grandson Scott Schuyler. They lived on the farm until 1953 when Donna started high school. Ray and Sally raised and raced thoroughbred horses beginning in 1948 which brought them and their families a lifetime of travel and enjoyment. Ray passed away in Sterling, CO October 24, 1978 while delivering horses for training there. Sally belonged to the Hamill Extension Club, Methodist Church, DOES, and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in all their activities along with traveling and playing cards with her many friends. For the past 8 years she enjoyed a good quality of life at Golden Prairie Manor until her decline 3 weeks ago. She is survived by her son Jack (Margaret) Schuyler of Winner; daughter-in-law Dorothy of Hamill; six grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
