Sally Kingsbury, 83, of Winner SD passed away on Saturday May 9th at home surrounded by family.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday May 14, 2026 at 3:00PM at the Winner Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service.  Burial will follow at the Winner Cemetery.

Sally was born in Deadwood SD on June 23, 1942, the only daughter of William and Verna Oakes.  Sally attended Banner Country School through her eighth-grade year, then graduated from Winner High School in 1960. Sally attended college in Vermillion SD.

Sally married Wesley Boerner and from that union they had four children;  Dewayne, Debra, Diane, and Dawn.

Sally met and married Gary Kingsbury in 1986.  She gained three stepchildren; Tawnya, Marty, and Tayra.

Sally and Gary combined and farmed together successfully for many years.  They made a great team in all that they did.  They loved to dance, enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, went for a drive everyday, and loved doing everything together.

Sally was an excellent seamstress, loved puzzles, sudokus, gardening, and being outside watching her many birds.

After Gary's passing in 2022, Sally gained a family member; her cat Ollie, whom she loved as much as her children.  (or maybe more!) They were inseparable.

Sally was very proud and admired for her volunteer work, earning the State Volunteer of the year 2017-2018.  Sally worked with the Legion and VFW visiting Veterans at the Winner Nursing Home and Golden Prairie Assisted Living.

Sally was a member and volunteered at the Methodist Church.  She made sure everyone got their birthday cards and visited members of the church at the facilities.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband Gary, parents, and her daughter Diane Kae DeBoer.

Sally is survived by her son Dewayne Boerner, daughters Debra Boerner and  Dawn Boerner, grandchildren, Derick and Jessica (Dewayne), Janessa and Brogan (Debra), Elizabeth and Hannah (Dawn). Stepchildren Tawnya (Scott) Fisher, Marty (Deb) Kingsbury, Tayra (Brad) Shanley.

The family would like to encourage everyone to dress casually for Sally's celebration.
