Roger Nelson, 78, of Hamill, SD passed away on Monday, December 1st, 2014 at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Facility in Winner, SD. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:30am at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hamill, SD. Burial will follow in the Hamill Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday. Roger was born Feb 13, 1936, the youngest of three children, to Roy and Luella Nelson in Winner. Roger grew up on a farm north of Hamill and graduated from Winner high school. Roger married Linda Lee Grossenburg and they were blessed with two sons, Bradley Duane and Nick Lee. The last 28 years Roger was married to Irene Zimbelman Clark whom he enjoyed building a successful farm with. Along with farming Roger loved raising cattle, hunting and fishing. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dean Nelson, his sister Elaine Sondergard, and his son Brad. Roger is survived by his wife Irene, son Nick (Sandy) of Omaha along with their children Kylee, Kassi, Max and Sam, his daughter-in-law Barb of Bellevue and her daughter Jenny. He is also survived by stepdaughter Deb Anderson (Jim) of Kennebec, stepsons Dan Clark (Cindy) of Winner, Dick Clark (Ann) of Valentine, stepdaughter-in-law Reggie Tisdale of Springerville, AZ and many step grandsons and daughters.
