Robert Herman, age 83, of Winner, passed away on October 26, 2016 at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Facility in Winner. Funeral Services will be held 10:30AM Monday, October 31, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Winner. Burial will follow at the Winner City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Winner with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM.

R obert (Bob) Lee Herman was born October 12, 1933 at the family homestead in Mellette County South Dakota. Bob was born one of ten children to Otto and Margret (Woehl) Herman. He attended school in Mellette County until the 8th grade. Bob worked as a hired hand in his younger years for many of the areas ranchers until he entered the United States Navy on October 10th, 1951. He was honorably discharged after 3 years of service and a Korean War Veteran. As continued service he was a member of the American Legion.

Bob met his wife Joyce Biggins in 1958, and they were married in 1959. To this union four children were born Danny, Tony, Marty, and Penny. He worked for Max Derry during which time he went to Auto Body School in Omaha, Nebraska, which settled him and Max into Midwest Auto for 30 years. During this time he enjoyed restoring old cars and sparked his love of racing cars. He spent countless hours volunteering his time to run wrecker service at demolition derbies and races at Winner Speedway. Enjoying his sons and grandchildren race. Bob and Dan started the family business B&D Auto Salvage in 1981, Bob worked happily at the auto salvage until his illness prevented him from doing so.

Bob is proceeded in his death by his parents Otto and Margret, his wife Joyce, and his brothers John, Ervin, Oscar and sisters Viola, Lillian, Gertrude, Mary, and Evelyn.

Survived by His brother Roland Herman, and his sons Dan, Tony and Marty and his daughter Penny. His grand children Travis, Trevor, Jacob, Joshua, Bryce, Shanelle, Lindsey, Alex, and Adam. Great grand children  Dane, Kai, Adyson, Connor, and Ryker. Brother in law Darrell Redding, and Sister in Laws Diane Doty, and Darlene Biggins and many nieces and nephews.
