Rick Meister, 65, of Winner, SD passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:00AM at the United Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow at the Winner City Cemetery in Winner, SD. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 6-7PM at the United Methodist Church in Winner, SD with a prayer service beginning at 7PM.
Rick was born May 26, 1953 to Art & Grace Meister in Winner, SD. Rick received his education and graduated from Winner High School in 1972. When in high school, Rick began working at Ken Carson Highway Market & continued on that career path his whole life, ending at Turtle Creek Crossing for Cohn Foods in Mission, SD.
While his job was in the grocery business, his passion was movie theaters. Starting with working at Ritz Theater until purchasing the Pix Theater across the street. He particularly enjoyed providing entertainment for younger children.
Rick spent his entire life in Winner and loved his community and the people who lived here. Rick was deeply touched by the community support to keep the Pix open through fund raising for a new movie projector.
Rick has communicated to his family his desire to bequeath the Pix back to the Community of Winner. His family is proud and happy to honor his request and will work hard to make it happen.
Rick is survived by Bob & wife, Mary of Kalispell MT; Tim & wife Maris of Oakland TN; and Candy & husband Mike Lundberg of Wright, WY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved to visit Uncle Rick.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Art & Grace, and Rick's Grandparents.
