Obituary

Richard Laverne Mckee, 75 of White River, SD passed away at his home in White River on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.  Private family committal service will be held at a later date.

R ichard "Dick" "Papa" Laverne Mckee passed away at home August 17, 2016.  He was born on December 8, 1940 to Harry William McKee and Emma Mae (Schmidt) Mckee.

Dick was a jack of many trades, Carpenter, Mechanic, Supervisor, store owner, Director of equalization, Husband, Brother, father, grandfather and an all-around super guy which everyone loved.  Dick loved his family, and enjoyed having them come to visit.  Some of Dicks favorite times were hunting rabbits with his sister Shirley, drinking coffee at sister Sandy's house, spending time with brothers Dale and Bruce, sitting in the sunshine, watching CNN, news time, fixer upper car shows, working on cars, listening to Don Williams, auctions, and most of all, getting together with family and friends.

Dick was born in Wood SD, where he started grade school.  He then continued elementary in White River and graduated at White River high school.  Dick enjoyed history class and also played football.  Dick married Carolyn on December 9, 1958 and had two children, Terry Mckee and Rita (Jim Lolley).  He loved to spend time with his grandkids, Louis Mckee, Parker (Mollie) Mckee, Tricia (Christian Morrison), Tracy (Will Newbold) and Tanner (Shelby) Lolley; Louis Anthony, Emma Nicole, Sharesse Rose, Jalen Scott, Remedy Christine, Kelsey Lynn, Hunter Patrick, Jazlyn Christine, Madelyn May, Palmer Victoria, Luke Wayne, and Sutton Elena.  Papa was always there to give the best advice and help out in difficult situations.  He also loved to visit with his grandkids about the way things are done today, like haying, and then share his story of how he had done the job in the past.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn (Bryan) Mckee, Son Terry Mckee, Daughter Rita (Jim Lolley), 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, mother Emma Mckee, brother Dale (Raymalee) Mckee, Bruce (Kay) Mckee, sister Sandy (Alan Green), Brother in law, Kenny (Mary Jane) Lolley, and a host of nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death are Dad Harry Mckee, Sister Shirley Lolley, 2 nephews, Stanley Mckee and Bret Green, grandson Holden Morrison, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
