Raymalee Fladebo, 103, of Winner, SD passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, SD. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:30AM at the First Christian Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service on Saturday. Raymalee Grace Adams was born Aug. 5, 1911 to Clarence and Annie Belle Adams in the homestead shack built by her father located 4 miles SW of Keya Paha, SD. After suffering 18 U.S. Presidents and numerous Wars, Raymalee was preceded in death by her husband George; brother Charles Adams; sisters Edith McElhaney, Stella Cramer, Mildred Jenson and Frances Adams; one son Darrell Fladebo; and one sister-in-law Frances Adams. She leaves behind 2 daughters Edith Carey of Denver, CO, Marilyn Laudenslager of Winner; 2 sons David Fladebo of Reliance, SD, Daniel Fladebo of Winner; and daughter-in-law Sherry Fladebo of Valentine, NE. 2 niece's Avis Ferwerda and Susan O'Donnell of Winner, SD; Jeff Ferwerda and Tommy O'Donnell of Winner, SD.; Grandchildren Gordon and Greg Feyerisen and Sandy Hall of Winner, Rhonda Holtgreive and Renee Cary of Denver, CO., Jason and Scott Fladebo of Amarillo, TX., and Jammie Fladebo of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren Ashely Horten; Amy and Luke Audiss; Kara and Katy Holtgrieve; Andrew and Erik Upson; Taylor, Olivia, Keegan, Chase, and Kayla Feyereisen; Ridge and Rylee Horton; Nancy, Yvette, Annette and Wallace Luyten, Noreen and Preston Phipps; and David Laudenslager. Raymalee went to rural school at Beaver Creek with her older brother and sisters, driving horse and buggy through all kinds of weather for all 8 years. She graduated from Winner High School in 1929. That fall she attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. After one term at Springfield, she taught one year at the rural May School west of Keya Paha. In the fall of 1931 she returned to Springfield and received a two year teaching certificate. She then taught 3 years at the Fladebo School. She boarded at the Fladebo farm mile from the school. She was married to George Fladebo on June 7, 1935 in Rapid City. They resided on the Fladebo homestead 4 miles west of Millboro for 53 years. In the summer of 1936, children started coming: first Edith and Marilyn, then Darrell and David, and last in 1948 Daniel. Its 1955, Raymalee started teaching again, doing 2 years in Winner and 20 years in Valentine, NE. It's now Aug. of 1962, a big day in her life when she received her (BSE) Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. She did graduate work at Chadron State College in Chadron, NE. and the University of Wyoming at Laramie. In 1977 Raymalee retired from teaching and spent 10 years on the family farm, eventually moving to Winner in 1988. She is a member of the United Church of Christ at Millboro, a charter member of the WIFE organization, Member of the Senior Citizens, the City Library, the Historical Society, and a member of Winner retired teachers. After moving from the farm to Winner, Raymalee's focus varied from reading to politics, raising house plants, her beloved cats, and her garden and flowers. She tended both garden and flowers to the age of 100. Today the garden has been sodded in, but the flowers remain. She enjoyed her garden produce and flowers and sharing them with family and friends. Finally, after 103 years, 11 months and 21 days being 15 days short of age 104, Raymalee will not be attending the Harkin-Ranch Picnic this September.
