Randall Loy, 87, of Winner, SD passed away on Friday, February 14 ^th , 2020 at the Golden Prairie Manor in Winner, SD.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00am at the Winner United Methodist Church in Winner, SD.  Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Winner United Methodist Church from 6-7:00pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm.

Randall Gene (Geno) Loy, was received into eternal life on February 14, 2020. He was born in  Columbia, KY on May 21, 1932 to Peyton and Clore (Harvey) Loy, the oldest of five in their parsonage home. After High School, he started college at Dakota Wesleyan, but became a teacher after WWII because of a shortage of educators. He met Lona Mills of Winner, South Dakota at the Winner Methodist Church where his father was the pastor. They both taught in country, "one-room school houses," in Tripp County that year. They were married December 21, 1951. He worked as a machinery mechanic at George and Bernice Mills' Allis Chalmers business after one summer as a deep-shaft gold miner in the Black Hills of SD.

Gene moved his growing family to Millington, MI and later built his own beautiful home with the help of his wife and family. He began working for General Motors and studied through GMI to gain an Associates Degree becoming a certified Millwright. He finished his four-year degree at Ferris State University and graduated in 1975 while his three oldest children were in college. He loved to garden and also planted over 10,000 pine trees on their homestead in Millington. Geno created beautiful paintings and they hang in family and friend's homes around the country. He was a great "fixer" and carpenter, and helped friends and families build fireplaces, decks and garages and volunteered his time for community team-work. He and his father built his dad's retirement home. He was a dedicated Gideon, often filling the pulpit for churches wanting to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Of his many achievements, Geno was most proud of his family and their love for Jesus and service to His Church across several denominations. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and enjoyed family reunions especially in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Columbia, Kentucky.

Gene and Lona moved back to South Dakota to care for her mother in 1995. They were active in their church family and enjoyed renewed friendships and family time in Winner. Gene was a gifted singer, he was in the Methodist Choir, sang for special events and enjoyed singing in the Winner Barbershop Quartet. Lona passed away in 2006.

Gene married Lona's sister, Myrna Lou Mills McClary the following year. They moved to Haines City, Florida and spent time with Gene's three siblings, and made friends in a wonderful church. Together they traveled, including an Alaska cruise and a trip to Hawaii. They moved back to Winner, South Dakota in 2017 and once again enjoyed their friends and family here.

Gene is survived by his wife Myrna (Mills) Loy, three sons, Ran (Joyce) Loy, Clayton, NM; Kevin (Judy) Loy, Arlington, TX; Byron (Angela) Loy, St. Louis, MO; four daughters, Carol Morgan, Portales, NM; Gerri (Jim) Bradsher, Portales;  Myrna (John) Schon, Kingsford, MI; Linda (Victor) Schiro, Jackson, MI. He has sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and three step-children, Maureen (Matt) Jackiw, Michael McClary and Kathleen (Brad) Warne.

He is further survived by his brother and his wife, Glenn and Judy Loy, his sisters, Sharon and her husband Philip Greenfield and Lil Loy. And many much loved nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his first wife Lona, his parents Rev. Peyton and Clore Loy, his father and mother-in-law, George and Bernice Mills, his sister Naomi, two infant sisters, his son-in-law, Sgt. James P. Bradsher II, his grandson St. Sgt. James P. Bradsher III, and his grandson Kristopher Morgan.

A service celebrating his life will be held Friday morning, February 21, at the Winner United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Gideons International.
