Peter John Gregor, 92, of Winner, South Dakota passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Avera Gregory Hospital in Gregory, South Dakota. Peter was born June 29, 1922 in Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Theresa (Arvai) Gregor. He received his education in Canada and was drafted in to the Canadian Army During World War II. He came to the United States in 1956, where he was the owner-administrator for the Mountain Grove Nursing Home. In 1962 he settled in Winner, South Dakota, where he served as the administrator of the Winner Nursing Home, as well as its owner, from 1962 until 1982. Peter served with various boards and organizations: First Dakota Home Savings & Loan board for 4 years, South Dakota Association of Senior Centers, Winner Senior Center, American Health Care Association, Senior Transit and Nutrition Programs, the South Dakota Safety Council, the National Fire Protection Association, South Central Adjustment Training Center, CCI, Winner Historical Society, Winner Lions Club, Winner Rotary, American Society on Aging, National Council on Aging, South Dakota Congress Senior Organization, South Dakota Health Care Association, Winner Chamber of Commerce, the South Dakota Governors Volunteer Leaders Conference, State Coordinator for AARP Drivers Safety Program for 20 years, Chairman of the Board for Saskota Industries, and the AARP with the National Highway Traffic Safety. Peter is survived by his family and was preceded in death by his parents, as well as all of his brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 4 to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, at Mason Funeral Home in Winner. Private funeral services will be held. Everyone is invited to a noon meal on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Mary's Hall in Winner.
