Patricia L. Nelson (nee Ogle)known to her family and friends as Pat or Patsy of Sioux Falls, SDarrived August 14, 1938 onher mothers 27th birthday in Ashland, WI anddeparted peacefully April 7, 2015 with her familyby her side at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, aged 76 years. Pat wasborn and raised onthe shores of ChequamegonBay in Ashland, WI, the daughterof Richard and Mary (Kovachevich) Ogle where she spent the long summers days ofan idyllic youth on the beaches of Lake Superior with her siblingsandfriends. After graduating fromDePadua High School she was employed byWisconsin Bell for 11 years.ShemarriedTom Falencik of Ashlandand they started their family before moving from Ashland to Winner, SD, where theyowned and operated restaurants for many years. Although Pat adopted South Dakota as her home she traveled often to Wisconsin to visit family and friends. She was employed at Fullerton Lumber in Winner until marrying Wayne Nelson,then her focus became Nelson Farms. Wayne's many leadership positions and their great sense of adventure took them toWashington, DCand around theworld. Alwaysgrateful to have traveled tomanycities and places on sixcontinents and meeting interesting people,she especiallycherished time with family and friends,tending hergardens,baking and canning and summers at thelake house in Minnesota. Pat and her family are gratefulfor the compassionatecare she received at Avera McKennan and Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls during the challenges that presented withan AML diagnosis nearly 3 years ago and especially, with heart-felt gratitude, Dr. Aref Al-Kali of The Mayo Clinic who's unfailing optimism, compassionate care and accomplished direction he providedduring anexperimental drug therapy she received at The Mayo Clinic. Pat is survived by her children; Julie (Carlos) Cornay of Sioux Falls, Tim Falencik of Minneapolis, Patrick Falencik of Winner, Joy Falencik of Sioux Fallsand grandsons Tanner (Lauren) Cornay of Sioux Falls, Jordan (Melissa) Cornay of Omaha, Will Cornay of Sioux Falls and great-grand-daughter Kate Cornay, sisters Mary Kay (Russell) Whitehead, Lincoln City, OR,and Romie (David) Ogle, Minneapolis, MN and brother Dick (Sandy) Ogle, Ashland, WI,Aunt Fran Halverson of Bayfield, WI,as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dearfriends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary C. Ogle of Ashland, WI and husband Wayne K. Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD. Private interment at a later date.
