Myrna Loy, 89, of Winner, SD passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Winner Methodist Church in Winner, SD.  Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service.

Myrna Lou Loy (Mills/McClary) was born on June 11, 1937, at Winner, SD to George and Bernice Mills. She spent all her childhood in Winner before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend the University, earning a double major in Music and English. There she met Blaine McClary and they were married and began their family.

In 1967, they moved to Canada and began their long careers teaching music to many, both young and older folks. Many of them become life-long friends. Myrna was a master of getting her students to get out of their comfort zone and participate in musicals, drama and various choirs.  Her love of music impacted even the most reluctant.

Myrna was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and a former Job's Daughter, holding many positions in each organization locally and state-wide/provincially. Myrna was a wonderful host and loved having family and friends around.  From small gatherings to large family reunions, she had a way of making everyone feel special and welcome.

After retirement she returned to South Dakota and married Gene Loy and they spent several happy years together, moving to Florida, traveling and spending time with their family.  Once again, however, South Dakota called them home and they came back to Winner, reuniting with long-time friends and family making their final home at Golden Prairie Manor.

Myrna is survived by her 3 children, Maureen (Matt) Jackiw, Mike (Tammy) McClary, Kathy Warne (Wayne Moore). Grandchildren Christina (Rob) Stone, Savannah (Colt) Martin, Robert (Sarah) Warne, Gretta Warne, Liam McClary and Joseph McClary. Great Grandchildren, Carmen, Sandara, Carly, Selena, Rudi and Rayla Martin. Gene's children Ran (Joyce) Loy, Carol Morgan, Gerri Bradsher, Kevin (Judy) Loy, Myrna (John) Schon, Linda (Victor) Shiro and Byron (Angie) Loy and their children. Gene's Siblings Glen (Judy) Loy, Sharon (Phil) Greenfield and Lillian Loy and many cousins and friends.

Myrna was proceeded in death by her parents George and Bernice Mills, her sister Lona Loy, husband Gene Loy and her children's father Blaine McClary.

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Winner Methodist Church with Pastor Tony Coffman presiding. Interment will take place following the service at Winner Cemetery. Refreshments and fellowship will take place at the church immediately after the internment.  In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations in Myrna's name to Shriner's Hospitals or Saint Jude Hospital.

A time will be designated during the service for anyone who would like to share a special memory of Myrna.  If you would rather write your memory down, a basket will be at the guestbook table, and the family will be able to share these stories later.
