Obituary

Milo (Miloslav) R. Ptacek, Sr., 76, Winner, SD passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at his home under the care of Hospice. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Winner at 10:00 AM followed by burial at the Colome Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at the Mason Funeral Home, Winner. Milo was born on September 23, 1937 to Frank Anton and Alba Marie (Rohla) Ptacek at the home of his Grandparents in the Red Hills northwest of Carter, SD. He grew up in the Beaulieu Lake Area east of Winner, SD. There he attended grade school at the Riley Country School and completed school thru 8th grade. After that time he helped his father with the family farm. He met and married Lillian (Pharris) Ptacek in 1959. This union brought his first son Milo Robert Ptacek, Jr. This union ended with a divorce. Milo joined the Army National Guard in 1957. He was activated and stationed at Fort Riley in 1961 thru 1962. In Fort Riley he met and married Wilma (Whipple) Ptacek. To this union was born daughter Barbara Ptacek and son Frank Ptacek; and also ended divorce. In 1976 Milo married Mae (Farmcouf) Ptacek. Mae passed away from cancer. On June 30, 2007 Milo married Rita (Holden) Ptacek and resided at 302 W. 3rd St in Winner, SD. This Union brought six more children to Milo's life; Zita Russell, Kerry Lee, Anita Lafevers, Jesse Lee, Lori Lee, and Theresa Lee. Most of Milo's professional career was in Automotive Detailing and Restoration where he owned and operated Milo's Car Grooming in Cando, ND and then at Harry K Ford where he retired in 2012. In his lifetime he also worked as a Grain Elevator Operator, owned a pawn shop, sold furniture in North Dakota, and sold Amway. Milo was a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association (WFLA) and received his 75 year pin and was a member of the American Legion Post #169. His most favorite hobbies/interests was the precious time spent with Grandson Cliff Ptacek and his beloved cats. Other interests Milo enjoyed was watching Survivor every Wednesday and Court TV daily. Milo is Survived by his sister Olga (Ptacek) Borrell, wife Rita Ptacek, 3 biological children Milo Jr, Barbara, and Frank; 6 Step-children: Zita, Kerry, Anita, Jesse, Lori, and Theresa; 22 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. Milo is preceded in Death by his parents Frank Anton & Alba (Rohla) Ptacek, his 3rd wife May (Farmcouf) Ptacek and his beloved Tigger the cat. Milo will be GREATLY MISSED by all who knew him.
