Mildred "Millie" Larsh, 94, went to be with her Savior Jesus on March 28, 2014 at the Winner Regional Longterm Care. Mildred "Millie" Hedlund was born to Oscar and Effie Ella (Johnson) Hedlund on January 15, 1920 on the eighth birthday of her sister, Ella. She was the third child of 4 children. She was born at home 9 miles north of Gregory. Later her family moved to Burke and then to Tripp county where Millie finished grade 8. On September 30, 1937, Millie married Oliver Lee Larsh and to this union three children were born - a son who died shortly after birth, a daughter, Margaret Ann and a son Ivan Gene. In 1948 Oliver and Millie moved to Winner so that the children could attend school. After Margaret and Ivan left home, Millie took care of several young children and boarded high school boys for 5 years. She cooked at the Senior Citizens Center and was on the Hospital Auxiliary where she became known for her buns and creamed turkey for their fund raisers. Millie was also a caregiver and took care of her mother, her sister and her mother-in-law. As a member of the First Baptist Church for 64 years she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and held many offices (both state and local) in the American Baptist Women's group. Millie loved to cook and was a great baker; her cinnamon and orange rolls were worth coming home for. Another favorite thing she loved to do was garden - growing both flowers and vegetables. Millie's family still enjoys her love of quilting as she made quilts for them all. Millie leaves behind 2 children, Margaret (Keith) Meyer of Winner, SD and Ivan (Barbara) Larsh of Charlotte, NC, 6 grandchildren: Keatha Ann Frederick (Todd) of Mansfield, TX, Megan Jean (Matthew) Andrews of Mansfield, TX, Catherine Ann (Corey) Schulick of Grand Junction, CO, Christine Elizabeth (Gregg) McNeil of Colfax, NC, Kevin Dean (Laurie) Larsh of Avon, CT and Kenneth Todd (Nicole) Larsh of Richmond, VA; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, a sister-in-law Donna (Andrew) Dice and many nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son and her siblings.
