Obituary

Michael Jeffry Dreyer, born February 28, 1958, passed away on June 1, 2026, at 4:32 PM. While his passing leaves behind a hole that can't truly be filled, the life he lived was bigger than words can properly capture.

Michael was the kind of man every room seemed to make space for. He had a wit that could light up any conversation and a comeback ready for almost anything anyone threw his way. Whether the joke was clever, political, morbid, or completely inappropriate for the moment, he somehow always managed to make it land. He loved making people laugh, and more often than not, he succeeded.

In fact, Michael seemed to believe that "the right time and place" was more of a suggestion than an actual rule.

One of his favorite sayings was calling friends and family a "no good for nothing." Then, the moment they did something kind or helpful, he'd grin and say, "Alright! I take back all those bad things I said about you," even though he hadn't actually said anything bad at all. It was one of the countless ways he made people laugh and made life feel a little lighter.

If there was an awkward silence in the room, Michael could fix it. Sometimes by making it even more awkward first, but somehow that usually made it funnier.

More than anything, Michael was giving. If someone needed help, he showed up. It didn't matter what he had going on himself. He gave his time, his energy, his humor, and his heart without expecting anything in return. Even when he was tired, hurting, or worn down, he believed in finishing what he started and standing up for what he believed was right.

He also loved cooking for the people he cared about, even when dealing with picky eaters who somehow had opinions about free food. Taking care of people came naturally to him.

Some of the best memories of Michael live in the small moments. The everyday moments that became unforgettable simply because he was there. In a small town, he became the kind of person people knew they could count on. He was often the first call when something broke, when life got difficult, when someone needed advice, or when they simply needed someone to sit with them for a while.

Michael never liked feeling as though he was taking up too much of anyone's time. If he needed help, he'd usually convince himself it was easier to handle it alone. But when friends and family showed up anyway, whatever project was supposed to get done often turned into hours of conversation, storytelling, and laughter. People may have come over with a purpose, but they stayed because being around Michael felt like being home.

To those who loved him, Michael was more than a father, friend, or family member. He was the person who showed up. The person who somehow always found a way. The person who carried more than most people ever knew while still finding reasons to smile and make others laugh.

In his final days, Michael shared the words he wanted his family and loved ones to remember most:

"That I love all of you. I want everyone to be sure they know that. Even though I didn't show it very much in the past and that it wasn't shown well, I love you guys."

Those words reflect the heart of the man so many people knew throughout his life. Michael may not always have expressed love in obvious ways, but he showed it every day through his loyalty, his generosity, his humor, and his willingness to be there whenever someone needed him.

And if Michael could read this today, he'd probably have a joke about all the nice things being said about him. He never seemed entirely comfortable being the center of praise. But every word of it is true.

Michael will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, his strength, and his ability to make people feel welcome. The laughter he created and the love he gave will continue living on in the stories told by everyone lucky enough to have known him.

He was truly the coolest dad.

And somewhere, we like to think he's still making people laugh, still telling stories, and still finding ways to remind everyone not to take life quite so seriously.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." — John 3:16
