Melba I. (Edwards) Olson, 90, of Winner, SD passed away on January 28th, 2024 at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Center in Winner, SD. A graveside service at the Colome Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Melba was born on February 25th, 1933 in Chambers, NE to Rudolph and Fern (Sprague) Edwards.

She spent of most of her early years in the Winner area and graduated from Winner High School in 1950. She attended Chadron State University briefly to earn a teaching degree.

After graduation from Winner High School Melba married Junior D. Olson in Santa Fe, New Mexico on May 29th, 1950. They raised one son, Douglas A. Olson (Karen) of Oregon City, Oregon.

They resided in Winner, where she worked many different jobs, but mostly as a book keeper at Farmers State Bank for many years.

Melba & J.D. enjoyed going to Dougs' many sporting events and dancing all over the upper Midwest, especially in their later years. They traveled thousands of miles and made many friends at the dances.

As with most grandparents and great-grandparents Melba was so proud of her grandson Joseph and his wife Kate. They have two children Zoe (15) and Kai (13) and Melba totally enjoyed loving and spoiling them as much as she could.

Melba will be missed by many, especially her husband of 73 years J.D. Olson.
