Obituary

MaryAnn Polasky, 74, of Winner, SD, was received into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 2, 2014, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, with Fr. Andrzej Wyrostek as Celebrant. Private burial will be at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. A Liturgical Wake and Rosary will be at the church at 7:00 pm Thursday, with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Thursday evening. Arrangements will be under direction of Miller Funeral Home of Sioux Falls and Mason Funeral Home of Winner. MaryAnn Albright was born April 13, 1940, at Odessa, MN, to August and Lucy (Rudnick) Albright. She was raised and attended school in Appleton, MN. After graduating from school, she moved to Minneapolis and was employed in bookkeeping at First National Bank. Later, she moved back to Appleton where she worked for the Farmers and Merchants Bank. She was married to Louis Polasky on July 11, 1964, in Appleton, MN. They made their home for a short time in Holloway, MN. They then moved to Miller, SD, where Louis was manager for Peavey Elevator. His job allowed for them to live in several towns in South Dakota including Winner, Huron, Gettysburg and Chamberlain. They eventually made their permanent home with their family in Winner where she and her husband owned and operated Polasky Feed and Seed. MaryAnn was employed as office manager for Brown Oil Company in Winner. She continued her career with Brown Oil until her retirement. MaryAnn and Louis loved to go on trips and greatly enjoyed their time in Hawaii and Alaska. In her retirement years, she volunteered at the Thrift Center with her "Tuesday Girls." She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner. She enjoyed sewing and playing Whist in her early part of life, collecting salt and pepper shakers and bells, watching the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She and Louis enjoyed time with their many friends on casino bus trips. They liked to go camping with their children and grandchildren. She has an amazing collection of 1950's 45 rpm records. She and Louis loved to go dancing and attended every wedding that they could so they could dance to her favorite song, Unchained Melody. They shared their last dance to that song only a few months ago and her health had since prevented her mobility. She was a very loving and caring wife and mother. Mostly, she loved and adored her grandchildren, spoiling them in every way a grandma should. Ever thankful to God for having her in our lives, her memory lives in the hearts of her husband, Louis Polasky, of Winner, SD; her children, Michael and Penny (Kara, Kirstyn and Kenzie) Polasky of Brandon, SD, Patricia and Ron (Zachary, Madisyn and Jordan) Waltman of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert and Cindy (Garett Whipple and Jaymason Bramblee) Polasky of Pierre, SD; and many of her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
