Mary Jo Skalland, 71, of Brandon, SD passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the Bethany Meadows Living Community in Brandon, SD.  Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Winner City Cemetery.

Mary Jo Moser was born on September 12, 1954 in McLaughlin, SD (the first born of nine children) to Henry V "Hank" and Teresa (Coyle) Moser.  In 1959 her family made their home in Winner, Sd where Mary Jo received her elementary education at St. Mary's School, and then attended and graduated from Winner High School.  Mary Jo being the oldest of nine, took great pride in helping her parents raise her siblings.

Mary Jo was united in marriage with Steven J. Skalland on December 30, 1983 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD.  The couple lived in Rapid City, Sd and gracefully opened their hearts in becoming foster parents.  In 1995 Mary Jo and Steve made their home on an acreage North of Corson,, Sd.  Mary Jo worked for many years as a custodian and helped with the lunch program for the Garretson School District.

Mary Jo enjoyed reading and camping, boating, attending car shows, listening to music, attending concerts and caring for her dogs.  Above all she cherished spending time with her family; especially attending her nieces and nephews' activities, and hosting them at their acreage in the summers.  Mary Jo was a loving wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Steven Skalland, Brandon, SD; her siblings, Alan (Chris) Moser, Great Falls, MT, Kevin (Lisa) Moser, Orange Park, Fl, Cindy (Charlie) Bennett, Winner, SD, Wade (Esther) Moser, Winner, SD, Todd (Tammi) Moser, Winner, SD, Keith (Jane) Moser, Winner, SD and Roxann (Roger) Heinzman, Winner, SD; Steve's two sisters, Nancy (Don) Dickey of Garretson, and Mary Kay Tiesen of Rapid City; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry V. and Teresa Moser; and brother, Chad Moser, sister-in-law, Vicki Moser; father and mother-in-law Roger and Marilyn Skalland.
