M. Evelyn Bachmann, age 103,passed away Friday, May 24, 2019.  She was born March 6, 1916 in Lincoln, Kansas to the late of Ray and Frankie Rankin.

She taught in a one room school house in Wood, South Dakota.  Evelyn enjoyed living on her farm, where her parents homesteaded in South Dakota, where she loved to quilt and sew.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Willie Bachmann and sister, Hazel Fitzgerald.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Clayton Bachmann, Myrna (Bob) Vert and Sharon (Clair) Frey; 6 grandchildren, Chad (Janell) Vert, Kevin (Terri) Vert, Heather (Dave) Lacey, Braden (Felecia) Frey, Lindsey (Dan) Anders and Andy Bachmann; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Ryan, Tayllor, Carson, Tressa, Zachary, Benjamin, Evan, Shayla, Seth, Alyssa and Kiersten.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., where family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service.  Private burial will be held in Wood, South Dakota at a later date.  Please visit www.newcomerdayton.com to share a memory in the family guestbook.
