Kenneth Humphrey, 90, of O'Kreek, SD passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Winner Regional Health Care Center in Winner. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2:00PM at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
Ken Humphrey born December 25, 1927 in Del Rio, Texas to Les and Neva Humphrey. He lived many places as a young man including Texas, Colorado, and Idaho. While living in Texas, he met John Bradford, who became his life-long best friend. He left Idaho to attend Texas Christian University (TCU). There he met Theresa Sully who would be his wife for 60 years. To this union 2 daughters were born, Kay and Jill. Ken was a very accomplished calf roper and team roper. Ken and Theresa rodeoed professionally for many years before making their home in O'Kreek, SD. Ken and Theresa raised registered Texas Longhorn Cattle. Ken served on the board of Texas Longhorn breeders association for many years. Ken taught school in Mission and served as the principal of the O'Kreek School. During this time, he and Theresa built their ranch, The Ox Yoke T Ranch, which is still operational to this day. The Ranch gave them the freedom to rodeo for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed leather work and developed master leather craft skills. Ken made so many friends through the years. The same sentiment about Ken is given, He was a great man. Ken will be missed greatly by many.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents Les and Neva Humphrey, long-time friend John Bradford and his wife Wanda.
He is survived by his wife Theresa, daughters Kay (Terry) and Jill. Grandchildren, Courtney Oakley, Arial Swallow, and Allia Swallow, and many close friends he made over the years who were so dear to him.
