Kathryn Elane Eichstadt, 75, of Presho, SD passed away November 22, 2024 at the Edgewood Nursing Home in Pierre, SD after a short battle with cancer.

Kathryn Elane Eichstadt was born February 22, 1949 in Presho, South Dakota to Fred and Marie Vavra. Raised on a farm north of Presho, Kathryn was the baby of eleven children. She attended Cedar Rural Country School in Lyman, graduating after the eighth grade.

Kathryn worked at a restaurant and convenient store in Pierre, SD where she met her first husband Bert Bergeson. To this marriage, two children were born, Benita and Elena. Bert, Kathryn and the girls moved to Blunt, SD for a short period before moving back to Pierre. Back in Pierre, Kathryn worked at a local flower shop for many years before her, Bert and the girls moved to Wolsey, SD. Bert and Kathryn divorced, and she moved to Huron.

Kathryn met her second husband, Paul Eichstadt, in Wolsey. They resided on the family farm and ranch for several years before Paul passed away. Kathryn moved back to Presho to be closer to her family.

Kathryn is survived by her daughters Benita (Jeff) Kohlymyer, Elena (Danny) Ball; sister Alva Johnson Minnesota, brother Lyle (Lorraine) Vavra, California; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her Paul Eichstadt, mother and father Marie and Fred Vavra, brothers Ben, Bedrich (Joe), Lowell, Ilo and Richard; and sisters Marie Brodrecht, Yvonne Ehlers, and Loretta Swarthout. As well as a grandson (Benita's son).
