Kathleen Steele, 98, of Winner SD passed away on Sunday, May 5 ^th , 2019 at the Winner Regional Health Care Center in Winner, SD. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10 ^th , 2019 at 10:30AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9 ^th , 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 6-7PM with a Rosary beginning at 7:00PM.

Kathleen (Kath) was born May 4, 1921 to John and Margaret (Walsh) Collins at their home north of Clearfield, SD. She was the ninth of 16 children. Kath attended rural grade school and graduated from Winner High School.

She married Donald Steele on July 8, 1940. To this union eight children were born: Denny, Richard (Dick), Janet, Barbara, Gary, Pat, Marilyn and Deanna.

After high school, Kath worked in Burke, SD at Farmer's Union Insurance before marrying and starting her family in Clearfield, SD. She spent 60 years in the Clearfield area in which 40 of these years were spent on their farm located just south of Clearfield. She truly enjoyed farm life and raising a family. After retiring from the farm in 1979, Kath was content moving to Winner and enjoyed her home. She joined a bowling league, playing on two different teams  and played "Pitch" as well as "500". She was a competitive card player!

Kath was known for her strong faith in Christ. She taught Catechism and was a member of the Alter Society in Clearfield. After moving to Winner, she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters, parish council and the church funeral committee. She was also a member of the VFW, DAV and volunteered for 13 years at the Winner Nursing Home.

Kath was from a large family and continued hosting her brothers and sisters at her home in Winner.  Later in life she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren which totaled close to 100 people! She continued playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins and many other sports on TV.

She is survived by her sister Joan (Loren) Foltz, Kansas City, MO, children: Denny (Pat), Naples, FL, Janet (Gary) Grevillius, Shorewood, MN, Barbara (Gene) Lang, Parker, CO, Gary (Shirley), Firestone, CO, Pat (Rita), Winner, SD, Marilyn Steele, Westerville, OH, Deanna (Darrel) Kaiser, Winner, SD.

She was proceeded in death by: her parents, her husband Donald, her sisters: Mary Newport, Ann Ulmer, Margaret (Peg) Nolan, Grace Glidden, Patsy Knodell, and Dorothy Almendinger. by her brothers: William, Clem, Jim, Tom, Jack, Bob, and infant brothers: Patrick and Bernard, son Richard (Dick) Steele and great grandson Wesson Littau.
