Joan "Joanie" Kartak, 61, of Winner, SD passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, SD.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10:00am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner.  Burial will follow in the Colome Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 6-7 pm with a Rosary beginning at 7 pm.

Joan "Joanie" Janice Kartak was born to Lloyd and Edna (Holden) Kartak on September 5, 1957 in Winner, SD.  She attended country school for her elementary education and graduated from Colome High School in 1975.

She was employed by Wells Fargo and First Fidelity Banks and Winner Regional Healthcare Center at the time of her death.  Joanie's greatest joy was her nephews, niece and her special daughter "Ronae".  Joanie enjoyed shopping with friends and family and planting flowers in the spring.

Joanie was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Colome, she taught catechism, and was a member of the parish council.  Most recently she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner where she was a Eucharistic Minister for a time.  Joanie passed away on June 4 ^th , 2019 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center after a 5-month battle with cancer.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8 ^th , 2019 at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the Colome Cemetery.

Joanie is survived by her brother Lynn (Deanne) Kartak and sister Lori (Jed) Sealey, all of Colome, six nephews:  Dr. Jesse Sealey, Wichita, KS, Tanner (Candace) Sealey-Alivia and Rhyker, Summerset, SD, Jaytee Sealey-Natalie and Hayzen, Murdo, SD, Luke Kartak, Colome, SD, Newley Kartak, Irving, TX, Ben Kartak, Colome, SD, Justin Steinke, Colome, SD and two nieces Becca Kartak, Ainsworth, NE, and Sammy Steinke (Walker), NE,  Aunts Luella Marsh, Winner, SD, Sharon Dawson, Colome, SD, and Louise DeMers, Winner, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd & Edna Kartak, grandparents John & Rosie Kartak and Martin & Olive Holden.  Aunts and uncles; Lawrence & Delores Connot, Leonard & Joyce Steffen, Raymond "Pete" Marsh, Darus & Douglas Dawson, Clifford & Vi Kartak, Ray & Lucy Krumpus, Raymond & Cecila "Johnie" Kartak and Lawrence DeMers.
