Jesse Michael Root, 33, of Aurora, CO, formally of Winner, SD passed away in Aurora, Colorado on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00.am. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. A visitation held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 5-7 p.m/ with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner. Jesse was born on January 9, 1981 in Gregory, South Dakota to Roger and Linda (LaCompte) Root. From day one he hit the ground running, and while he was a big guy, he could run like the wind. He graduated from Winner High School in 1999 and later attended South Dakota State University. While attending SDSU, he majored in Consumer Affairs and also ran track for the SDSU Track and Field team from 2000 to 2001, where he was a team captain. Jesse was a member of the South Dakota Air National Guard from 2001 until 2005 and was commissioned a second Lieutenant. He then attended USAF pilot training at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma. After completing college, Jesse's uplifting personality and contagious smile was spread throughout the United States as he worked in the oil and gas industry in NY, IN, CO, NE, AL, WV, TN, KY, GA, OH, PA, IL and OK. Jesse's good nature was evident as he amassed an abundance of great friends everywhere he went. Jesse truly had a heart of gold, and was never seen without his signature smile. He was always one to live life to the fullest and was ever generous with his whole-hearted hugs. He loved, and was loved by his family, friends, Nora and his pup, Maggie. Jesse is survived by his parents, Roger and Linda Root of Winner, brother Jamie (Laura) Root, sister Kelli (Zach) McCready, Grandmother Louise Root, nieces Addy, Rylee, and Gracie, and girlfriend Nora Dillon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Betty LaCompte, Frank Root and Anna Renot. Love you forever Jesse baby. Bye-bye little Bam Bam.
