Obituary

Gloria Leibrich, age 82, of Winner, SD passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015 at the Winner Regional Health Care Facility in Winner, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6-7PM at the church with a Rosary beginning at 7PM. Gloria was born to Guy and Frances (Vavra) Carter in Dallas, SD on January 25, 1933. She grew up north of Dallas and graduated from Dallas High School in 1952.She then attended Northern State Teachers College graduating with a teaching degree.After college, she went with a friend to Oregon where she worked at a cherry factory. She taught school in Viborg, Fairfax, Winner, and was a substitute teacher at the St Mary's Catholic school.While working at the Farm and Fleet Store in Winner, she met her husband Robert Leibrich. They were united in marriage January 25, 1958.In 1971, she began working part-time at JC Penney until it closed in1993.She also worked part-time at the Tripp County Auditor's office from 1976 to 1981. Gloria owned and operated L&L Transfer with her husband Robert from 1982 to 1988.The business was sold and Gloria retired to spend time with family and friends. Gloria was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and was a Cub Scout Den Leader.She had many interests and joys in her lifetime including playing cards, Yahtzee, putting puzzles together, visiting with friends, and morning coffee with her children, daughter-in-laws and son-in-law.She also enjoyed attending school and recreational activities in which her grandchildren participated. Left behind to carry on her memories are her five children Robert(LaDonna) of Sheridan, WY, Leonard (Delaine) of Worthington, MN, Craig(Kathy) of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Donna) of Winner, SD, andBrenda (Greg) Bender of Winner, SD, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by brother-in-law Kenneth Leibrich of Winner, SD, sister Darlene (Bob) Wilken, Omaha Neb, and brothers Vic (Marie) Carter, Omaha Neb., Milton (Sandy) Carter, Lincoln, Neb., Don Carter Omaha, Neb., Delwin (Penny) Carter, Topeka, KS, Sister in law Myrna Carter Omaha, NE, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents Guy and Frances (Vavra) Carter, brothers Albert (Mary) and daughter Kathy, Eldon (Mary), Art and Claire, One sister Irene (Bill) Young, her mother- and father-in-law Mary (Koch) (Leibrich) Winford and Leonard Leibrich, one sister-in-law Loretta (Orville) Nolder and son Ronald, one brother-in-law Dale Leibrich, daughter-in-law Ruby Sturgeon Leibrich, Nieces Vicki Mullen and Pamela Rasmussen and Nephews Michael and Shawn Carter, and Scott Mullen of Omaha, NE.
