Obituary

Gjoa Yvonne Moen, 30, of Mitchell, SD passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD.  Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD.  Burial will follow in the family cemetery north of Moser, SD.  A memorial service will be held at the Salvation Army Chapel in Mithcell, SD on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 3:00PM-5:00PM.

Gjoa was born in Winner, SD on May 30th, 1995 to Gail Lynnette Moen and Jamie Siems.  At the age of 3, Gjoa was adopted by her loving step-father, Corey Wayne Duley who remains her father to date.

Gjoa began school days in Colome, SD, however, shortly after in 2000 she moved with her family to the Alexandria/Mitchell area where she spent the remainder of her life.

Not only was her spirit and bright presence infectious, but she also developed her many talents at a young age.  Gjoa was a gifted soccer player,  She played soccer at the Mitchell Park and Rec from the year of 2002 all the way into high school.  She received an offer to play for DWU, however the birth of her beautiful daughter changed her path and she is a great blessing.

Gjoa also was an avid skate boarder, wrote numerous amazing songs that can be heard online.  She was also a gifted artist with works of art already on display in museums and gift shops.  Gjoa aspired to create programs and groups to help individuals much like herself that were suffering from addiction and mental health issues.    She was a very spiritual, beautiful, smart young woman who simply aspired to make a difference in the world and leave a legacy of love, determination and faith.

Gjoa is survived by her daughter Victoria Rocha, sister Emalie Duley, brother Russell Duley, mother Gail Moen, fathers;  Jamie Siems, Corey Duley, step-mom Jennifer Duley, uncle Russell White Hawk, grandmother Jeanette White Hawk, great-aunt and uncle Sandy Lee White Hawk & Jeff Anderson, grandmother Teresa Duley, aunt & uncle Desiree & David Duley, aunt & uncle Jennie (Duley) Jacob Osterman, aunt & uncle Amy (Duley) Chris Totton, uncles; Jason & Krystal Siems, Billy & Alfreda Siems, grandfather Bill Siems, step-father Marv Gakin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gjoa is preceded in death by her grandfathers; Russell Dreyer, John Moen, great-grandmothers; Yvonne White Hawk, Vera Hauf, great-aunt Dr, Sharon White Hawk, grandfather Darrell Duley and many others never to be forgotten.
