Geraldine (Gerry) Bingen, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the First Christian Church at 11:00. A visitation will take place one hour prior. Burial to follow at the Winner City Cemetery.
Gerry was born May 13, 1934 to Lawrence & Florence Austin. She grew up with five brothers and three sisters. The family moved often while she was growing up and settled in Billings, Montana. She met Sanford while he was in the Marine Corp. They married on October 15, 1953 and became parents to four children. Sanford and Gerry moved to the family farm south of Kennebec where they raised their family. In 1994 they moved to Colome and she worked in Medical Records at the Winner Regional Hospital until her retirement. After retirement, Sanford & Gerry enjoyed their karaoke business , "The Grands."
Gerry & Sanford made some wonderful memories with their grandchildren when they would take them on summer vacations without parents! Gerry enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, square dancing, black powder shooting, fishing, camping and spending time with family.
Gerry is survived by her children, Geneva (Carl) Westergren of Colome, SD; Shane (Shirley) Bingen of Ideal, SD and Payla (James) Toyne of Yankton, SD. Grandchildren, Miss Westergren, Ben Westergren, Cally Westergren, Marty (Kati) Bingen, Trisha (Cory) Assman, Tyler (Laura) Toyne and Jesse Toyne. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Gerry is preceded in death by her husband, Sanford; infant daughter, Desiree; her parents and numerous family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Daybreak Village (Elder Inn), Winner Regional Healthcare, Winner Regional Long Term Care, Hospice and Mason Funeral Home for the care and compassion that they gave to Gerry and us.
