GAE DEAHN BROCK was born July 29, 1926, in Antelope County, Nebraska, to John and Elfie Blunt Deahn. The family moved to a farm located eight miles north of Witten, SD in 1929 just in time for the Great Depression. Gae, along with two sisters, Donna and Shirley, attended Lone Tree Elementary School.
Gae graduated from Winner High School in May, 1943, and was employed by the Citizens Bank of Colome, SD. Leaving SD in 1947 for San Diego, CA, she met and married Jack Schliekelman, ALC(AP)-USN, inheriting 4 stepchildren, ages 5-10 years old. In July, 1958, the Navy moved the family to the Island of Malta (British Controlled) Fleet Aircraft Service Squardron in the Mediterranean Sea. In March, 1959, Jack was killed in a plane crash in Naples, Italy, and the family returned to San Diego, CA.
In 1979 Ted Brock of Muleshoe, Texas, entered her life, they married and she gained another 4 step children and 7 grandchildren. Gae and Ted led a wonderful life, traveling between San Diego, CA, Apache Junction AZ, Blythe, CA, Texas and the Farm in South Dakota. Cancer took Ted much too soon in November, 2006, in Lubbock, TX. In August, 2009, Gae returned once more to South Dakota where she resided at Golden Prairie Manor in Winner, SD until shortly before her death May 10, 2019, at Winner Regional Long Term Care.
Gae was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church by Rev. David Otten with Rev. Don McKillop on Dec. 4, 2015.
She leaves behind dear nieces and nephews, Joan and Bill Ferguson, Witten, Janice Ferguson Falen, Tacoma, WA, Dexter Hermstad, Cynthia Hermstad Johnson (Greg), Eric Hermstad (Amy) all of CA.

Preceding her in death are parents John W. Deahn, Elfie Blunt Deahn and two sisters, Donna Deahn Ferguson and Shirley Deahn Hermstad.
Gae was a beautiful and gracious woman dearly loved by relatives and friends. All of her stepchildren but one, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends came from Texas, Arizona and California to celebrate her 90 th birthday at Lone Tree Lodge near Witten, South Dakota in July of 2016.
A Memorial Service will be held at Golden Prairie Manor Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 2 P.M with Rev. Don McKillop officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Muleshoe, Texas.
