Obituary

Elias Charles “Chuck” Noble, Jr., passed away at the age of 88 on August 19, 2026 at his home in Bellevue, Washington.

He was born in Winner, South Dakota to Elias Charles Noble and Mildred Margaret (Konop) Noble. He was the firstborn of four children. Growing up alongside his siblings, Wayne, Mary Lou and Marsha, his early life was filled with hard work and shared responsibility on the family farm north of Winner, SD.

Chuck obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University. Specializing in structural dynamics and design, his career took flight working for Martin Aerospace (Apollo) in the 1960’s. He was also a part of General Dynamics (Atlas-Centaur launch) before working at Boeing in Seattle, Washington where he was the Lead Engineer of the Supersonic Transport SST. His technical insight and dedication to excellence left lasting impressions.

After a successful career, Chuck returned to his roots—farming. Working with his nephew Wade, he built a business growing alfalfa, grass hay and pubescent wheatgrass seed. He was proud of their high-quality hay and his efforts to thwart Monsanto's attempts to monopolize alfalfa seed through genetic engineering. His work in agriculture was not just a pursuit of personal interest; it was a commitment to preserving the integrity of farming practices. Through his activism and his quality products available to U.S. farms, he developed many long-lasting friendships.

Beyond his professional life, Chuck was an artisan at heart. His love and talent for woodturning were reflected in the beautiful objects which he created. He enjoyed sharing them with family and friends.

Chuck's marriage to Trudy was a partnership which enriched his life and she supported his endeavors.

Chuck is survived by his sister Marsha (Bill) Gresham, his nine nieces and nephews, many cousins and great-nieces and nephews. He shared a close bond with his nephew Wade Noble and cousin Dee St. George who played significant roles in his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elias C. and Mildred (Konop) Noble, his brother Wayne Noble, his sister Mary Lou Peklo and brother-in-law Robert Peklo.

Chuck will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
