Effie Anderson, 83, of Winner, SD passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Winner Regional Long-Term Care Center in Winner, SD. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 3:00PM at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service starting at 1-3PM. Burial will be on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD at 10:00AM Mountain Time.

Effie Annetta Hartland was born July 20, 1935 in Tripp County S.D. to Lloyd and Mae (Vanschoonhoven) Hartland. She attended and completed her eight-grade education at Star Prairie District 27 Church Side School which was a 7-mile round trip, that she enjoyed along with her siblings in their horse drawn buggy with Effie on the driving reins as she surely loved horses and owned some very good one's later in life.

She graduated from Winner High School in 1954 and later from the University of Vermillion to be a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning. Effie also enjoyed serving the Lord in her later years and would say "I'm glad I met with Jesus".

Grateful for having shared her life are husband Dwight, daughters, Kendra (Terry) Woods, Karen Covell, son Kirk Dougherty. Siblings, sister Laura, sister Janet, sister Lorena, brother Bill, and sister-in-law Rosemary. Several grandchildren & great grandchildren, three of which Dwight and Effie made a home for a time in their young lives.

Effie was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Mae Hartland, her daughter Darcy Dougherty, sister Laura Delaney, sister Lorena Paczosa, nephew's William Lloyd Hartland and Bill Long.
