Dwight Anderson, 86, of Clearfield, SD passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6 ^th , 2019 at 2:00PM at the Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, SD. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be on Tuesday, May 7 ^th , 2019 at 12:00PM Mountain Time at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.

Dwight Delano Anderson was born February 16, 1933 in Witten, SD to L.V. and Florence (Vawser) Anderson. He grew up on the family farm/ranch and attended grade school at a rural Clearfield, SD. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska from 1953-1955. After returning home he worked on the farm with his father L.V. and brother Lyle making many improvements over the years.

He was a lifelong member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Clearfield, SD where he was an Elder for many years, after its closing, he attended Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, SD.

In 1990 he was united in marriage to Effie Dougherty. They made a home for some of Effie's grandchildren when they were young and opened their home to foster children as well. While Effie was a resident of Winner Regional Long-Term Care, Dwight was a loyal and frequent visitor. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his bounty with family and friends.

Dwight is survived by nieces Cindy Kemp, Millboro, SD, Marlene Sloan, Millboro, SD, nephews Bill (Melody) Heese, Belleville, IL, Dale Heese, Millboro, SD. 6 great nephews, great great nieces and nephews. 3 step-children Kendra (Terry) Woods, Kirk Dougherty, Karen Hall. 5 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, brother-in-law Bill (Rosemary) Hartland, and sister-in-law Janet Long. And numerous other relatives.

Dwight was preceded in death by wife Effie, parents L.V. and Florence Anderson, sister Virginia (Bill) Heese, and brother Lyle.
