Duane's parents are Arliss Crowe and Calvin Old Lodge.  Duane graduated from Winner High School during a Tornado in 1985.  Duane was the first to graduate out of 29 first cousins on his father's side of the family.  Duane attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, studying computer science.  He also attended Sinte Gleska University in Mission, SD.

Duane was a talented artist and loved working on electronics, phones, computers and listening to music.  He knew lots of songs and had an incredible memory.  Growing up Duane was a really great teacher.  He kept his siblings busy through the long winters by having "school".  He would show his siblings and many neighborhood kids how to make crafts for the holidays.  He drew coloring pictures for his students.  There were also days of "store" where he made money and coins that were close to real.  Duane had an amazing mind.  He had games for the neighborhood kids and his siblings to play like "Gong Show" and "Name that Tune" and those were great times.  During Halloween he painted kids faces as KISS.  It was always a memorable time because the paint was hard to get off.

While in Sioux Falls Duane met Beck Phelps whom later he married and to this union came his son Mitchell A. Old Lodge.  After their divorce Duane returned back to Winner.  Duane spent time with his sisters and helped them take care of their children.  He also had a hand in raising his grandchildren.

Duane took care of his nieces Emerald, Jewel, and Miranda.  Miranda and Duane had a bond like father and daughter.  After Miranda grew up and had kids Duane was the best papa to her kids.  Duane leaves them to mourn him.

Duane held various jobs that he enjoyed.  He worked at the Old Winner Nursing Home, CCI, Rose Manor, Frontier Bar, RST Head Start, Family Dollar, Dollar General, The Good Samaritan and Mom & Dad's in Sioux Falls, SD.  Duane made a lot of friends at these jobs.

Duane is survived by his son Mitchell Old Lodge and his two children, his Kunka son Brandon Olson and his nieces/daughter Miranda Olson.  Duane also leaves to mourn his brothers; Dion Old Lodge of Yankton, SD, Christopher Red Horse of Pierre, SD, his sisters; Vietta (Ryan) Hardy of Winner, SD, Arlette Red Feather, of Winner, SD, Yvette (James) Iron Heart of Winner, SD, Janice Red Horse of Sioux Falls, SD, and Susie Turney, aunts; Betty (Leo) Lockwood of New Town, ND, Kathryn (Wayne) Running Horse of Ideal, SD, Arlene (Gerald) Black Bear, of Corn Creek, SD, uncles; Ronald Gary, of Brookings, SD, CaNeil (Grace) Old Lodge, of White River, SD, Alfred (Shirley) Old Lodge, of Bonesteel, SD, Glenford Old Lodge, of Ideal, SD and also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren.
