Douglas (Doug) LaHaye was born to Roland and Gladys LaHaye in Winner, South Dakota, Tripp County. He was the youngest of six children and grew up in rural Mellette County South Dakota.

He attended White River Public School and graduated from White River High School. He attended college at SDSU in Brookings South Dakota. After college graduation he returned to the family ranch where he lived until the time of his death.

Douglas never married. He is survived by his sisters:  Elaine (Clifford) Krogman of White River, SD; Barbara (Howard Jr) Keever of Columbus, Montana; Linda Janski of Sioux Falls, SD; Zelda (Sidney) Fairbanks of White River SD; Rhonda (Donald) Nankivel of Tea, SD along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Douglas is preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd and Carrie (Goodburn) Montague, Daniel and Missouri ( Zura Dubel ) LaHaye; his parents Roland and Gladys (Montague) LaHaye Soukup; a niece Jessica Krogman and step father Joseph Soukup; along with many aunts and uncles.

He loved to play golf and did so whenever he could get away from the chores on the ranch. He became friends with many other golfing enthusiasts.

There will be a gathering and celebration of life at a later date.

Mason Funeral Home of Winner South Dakota was in charge of cremation services.
