Dorothy New, 87, of Winner, SD passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Winner Regional Hospital in Winner, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:00am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, form 5-7:00pm at the Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm. Dorothy was born on February 26, 1927 to Ernest Schneider and Frances Schmidt. She married Alvin New Sr. on October 9, 1945 and to this union she acquired 3 children: Alvin New Jr., Duane New and Betty Lou. They ranched in Gregory County Till 1952 when they moved to the homestead place west of Carter, the John Henry New place. They lived there until the death of Alvin Sr. on December 3, 1993. Dorothy moved to the Lamro Apartments in Winner in April of 1994 and later moved to the Winner Long Term Care Facility. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Frances Schneider, Brothers: Hank Schneider, Carl Schneider, and Bob Schneider, Sisters: Ethel Konvalin and Gladys Carmichael, step son Duane New and step daughter Betty Lou. Dorothy is survived by her step son Alvin (Donna) New Jr., daughter-in-law Norma Jean New, son-in-law DuWayne Heying, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
