Obituary

Donald Luther, 81, of Winner, SD passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Facility in Winner, SD. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:30am at the United Methodist Church in Winner. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Methodist Church from 5-7pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm. Donald Dee Luther was born on September, 19, 1932 at Elsmere, NE. He was one of eight children born to Jesse and Harvian (Chase) Luther. Don lived on his folks farm most of his early years. Don joined the Army in 1950. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He returned to farming and numerous other jobs. Don later went into the construction business. Don worked as a custodian at the Winner Schools for thirteen years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He loved when his children, grandchildren, and family came to visit. On April 10th 1982 he was united in marriage to Connie Rice and the couple resided in Witten, SD. They moved to Pierre in 2011 and returned to Winner in 2012. Don is survived by his wife Connie and their children; Cindy (Dallas) Ober, Donald Jr. (Michelle) Luther, Curt (Karen) Luther, Brenda (Chris) Davies, Nancy (Steve) Lamberston, Russell (Cris) Walton, Sherry (Jeff) Paulson, Renee (Doug) Waters, Tim (Lana) Waters, Meridie (Mike) Locklear, Michelle (Tim) Williams, Stacie (Jerry) Weinheimer, Dixie (Rick) Fiala, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Susy Roberts and Mary Hoover, and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; Jesse and Harvian Luther, two brothers; Raymond and Harold Luther and three sisters; Evelyn Yarbough, Eleanor Smith, Anna Mae Walter.
