Obituary

Dola Dreyer, 85, of Winner, SD passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10:30AM at the First Christian Church in Winner.  Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 6-7PM at the First Christian Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00PM.

Dola was born February 17, 1933 in Murdo, SD to Lonnie and Edna Tucker of White River, SD.  She graduated from White River High School in May of 1951.

After graduation, Dola married the love of her life, Marion "Mike" Dreyer of Witten, SD on October 27, 1951 in a double ceremony with her brother Allen Tucker and Ila Galbraith.  The couples have been married for 67 years.   To this union three children were born; Clifford, Julie and Lonnie.

She worked for SDSU as a nutritional specialist with the Tripp/Todd County Extension Offices.  This was one of many jobs Dola had, but her family was the most important part of her life.  Through the years, her and Mike took in and raised many extras.  From siblings, to neighbors, to foster kids and anyone in between.  Her arms were always open and full of love.  Everyone was treated the same, as part of the family.

Dola was a member of the Eastern Star for years since the mid 1960's.  She held office in the Grand Chapter of South Dakota.

She was a member of the UCC Church of Wood, SD.  She was a leader of many youth groups and taught bible school and Sunday school annually.

She was a Treadle Tripper Extension Club member, and also played couple club cards once a month.

She was on a city bowling league for years.  Not only was she on one league but at times three leagues per week.  She went to the state bowling tournaments yearly.

She was an amazing 4-H and youth leader for years; teaching crafts, cooking, and life lessons in general.  Judging was very important to Dola.  She judged at the local county 4-H achievement days for years.  Judging at the State Fair was an honor for her.  She was inducted into the SD 4-H Hall of Fame at Huron.  As 4-H was one of Dola's passions, this award was well deserved.

Dola was born with a green thumb, if you couldn't find her in the kitchen, she was in the garden.  She was a member of the Master Gardeners for years.

Last but not least, her love for animals was evident to all.  She truly loved living on the farm and caring for the animals.

Dola is survived by her husband Mike, sons Cliff and Lonnie (Pam) Dreyer, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Darci (Matt) Dailey & Jack, Maggie and Mick; Michael Dreyer; Stacy & Elena Dreyer; Sid (Amanda) Dreyer & Isaac, Emily and Ian; Sara (RJ) Petersek & Linkyn, Libbie and Preslie; Kristin & Victoria Dreyer; Jake Dreyer and many nieces and nephews.

Dola is preceded in death by her daughter Julie Ann, parents Lonnie and Edna Tucker, brother and sister-in-law Alvin and Nadine Tucker, sister Winnie Green, brothers Norton, Noland and infant brother Calvin Tucker.
