Delores was born on May 7, 1935. They lived near the Jordan corner intersection of Hwy 18 and Hwy 183.  She lived there two years and then they moved south of Colome.  As a young child she remembered playing games and singing at school; and being afraid of the coyotes that howled outside her window at night. She graduated from Colome High School in 1953.  She was involved in choir; played the baritone and the piano.  She was Salutatorian of her graduating class.  She was always very good at math and substituted in the Jr. High math class.

One of her true talents was her ability to sing.  She would sing at weddings and always was appreciated when she attended your church.  People would comment they liked it when she came to church because others would then sing out.  After high school she began working as a teletypist at Wilson's Trucking Company. She was one of the employees that had to go in early when freight came in. She commented how her and her friends walked a lot.

Delores and Pete met at the Colome Legion Hall.  They were married on August 25, 1957 and to this union had six children; two sons and four daughters. They resided southwest of Keya Paha until the spring of 1962 then moved to their longtime home in Clearfield.  She would comment how she lived on 290th street most of her life until she moved into the Golden Prairie Manor the Fall of 2024 creating some dear friendships with residents and staff.

Delores belonged to the Golden Rod Club, The Friendly After Nooners, and The Newcomers Club Extensions Clubs.  In 2026 she celebrated 69 years in Extension and was awarded the Extension Leaders Club in 2001. She was the historian doing the scrapbooking for the club.  She also did her civic duty and served on countless election boards even getting snowed in at the school one time.

In the early years as a mother, she made all of the clothes for her girls.  At Christmas she made matching or coordinated outfits for her daughters. This led to teaching all of the girls to sew.  The kids joined 4-H and emersed themselves into projects from baking, to sewing to livestock.  After her children were done with 4-H she continued on the clothing committee finding judges and being a judge's assistant for numerous years.  In 2003 she was awarded the Meritorious 4-H Award for her years of volunteering.  She also continued to sew with her grandchildren teaching and encouraging them in their sewing projects.

She was also devoted to her church, Redeemer Lutheran, Clearfield, SD.  She taught Sunday School, was the Sunday School Superintendent, and was church Treasurer for many years.  She rarely missed church until later in her years when getting to church became more difficult.  She was an avid baker baking buns for family meals, decorating birthday cakes for her grandchildren's birthdays, and bars for her children's lunches while attending country school.

Delores and Pete joined the Boots and Calico Square Dance Club enjoying numerous nights and weekends square dancing locally and at festivals.  They would dance at the local Carlock Ballroom having lots of great times dancing and being with their friends.  She made countless square dance outfits with matching shirts for Pete.  This was a fun time in life, full of love and laughter.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Peter Duffy; her parents, Henry Edward Miller and Frieda Helena Miller; her brothers Henry and Roger Miller; all of Colome, SD.
