Clinton James Osterbur, 37, of Mosher, South Dakota, passed away on October 10, 2026. Memorial Services for Clinton will be Wednesday, October 28th at the Witten Community Hall 3:00-6:00pm. Memorial service will start at 3:30pm
Clinton was born on December 2, 1988, in Pierre, South Dakota, to Kenneth “Kenny” and Tammy Osterbur.
From an early age, he was stubborn, always ready to go, and a jokester. He was a hard worker since the beginning, helping with chores around the house and farm. Trapping, coyote hunting and dropping what he was doing at a moment’s notice to help someone in need was always part of him.
He and his brother, Josh, found their way into all sorts of trouble together. If it was building forts, shooting BB guns, fishing, playing football or baseball they were always on the go. In May 1991, Clinton became a big brother when his sister, Alisha, was born. The three of them were quite a crew. Raising chickens and 4H calves always kept the three kids busy. In July 2001, his little sister, Kristina, arrived, and he made it his mission to lovingly terrorize her for the rest of his life. Where Clinton went, his little sister was not far behind.
Clinton graduated from White River High School in 2007 and continued his education at WyoTech, graduating in 2008 with a degree in Occupational Associate in Specialized Technology in Automotive and Management, and a certification in Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Review
Throughout his life, Clinton put his skills and determination to work in many ways, from working as a mechanic and ranch hand to owning his own fencing company. Those who knew Clinton knew there was no job he couldn’t tackle. If he didn’t know how to do something, he would figure it out. His resourcefulness and willingness to take on a challenge were part of who he was.
Clinton and Mandy Redden welcomed their son, Canyon, on March 12th, 2015. This began his journey as a father. They later welcomed together their daughter, Dally, adding another joy to his life. Clinton cherished being a dad to the both of them.
In March 2019, Clinton met the love of his life, Shanelle Herman. Their love for one another was undeniable, and the two could often be found side by side, working cattle and goats, building fences, and caring for their children. In December 2019, they welcomed Copeland, the first of their four children together. Delaynie, Sage, and Coltyn followed, filling their home with even more love and energy.
Clinton was an amazing father, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his children. Spending time with Canyon, Dally, Copeland, Delaynie, Sage, and Coltyn was one of the greatest joys of his life. Showing them how to work hard in life, to enjoy the outdoors, ride horses or dirt bikes. He loved sports, hunting, riding dirt bikes, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He had a contagious laugh and knew how to brighten a room. His laughter, determination, and the memories he shared with those who loved him will be deeply missed.
Through organ donation, Clinton gave the gift of life to four people and helped many others. His legacy lives on through those whose lives he saved and the family and friends who will always love him.
Clinton is survived by his fiancée, Shanelle Herman; his children, Canyon, Dally, Copeland, Delaynie, Sage, and Coltyn; his parents, Kenny and Tammy Osterbur; his brother, Joshua Osterbur (Michele), his nieces and nephew, (Kyleigh, Elysia, and Keegan); his sister, Kristina Stange (Andrew); his grandparents, Kenneth and Joan Spears; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alisha Osterbur, and his grandparents, Richard and Sue Osterbur
