Obituary

Cecelia (Babe) Larsen, 88, of Flower Mound TX, formerly of Winner, SD passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Rosewood Memory Care Community in Flower Mound Texas. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to memorial service on Saturday. Cecelia (Babe) was born to Henry and Rose Lueken in Winner, South Dakota. She was the baby sister to 4 sisters & 2 brothers. Babe lived on the Lueken family farm east of Winner near Brandon Springs while attending a nearby rural school. She graduated from Winner High School in 1943 & loved attending homecoming celebrations over the years to see her classmates & her beloved "Winner". Young Fred Larsen Jr. visited the Lueken farm often. Babe was quick to notice; they were married August 8, 1944. Their memorable reputation as "Babe & Junior" began as they added 2 daughters to their happy life; Diane Dietz of Flower Mound, TX & Pat Tschudy of Scottsdale, AZ. Grandchildren include: Derek Dietz & Amber Dietz Buescher (David) & great granddaughter, Bella, living in Texas. Frequent "Lady Lueken" reunions bring Rose Lueken's daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters together. Less than two years ago, Babe and her sister, Gertie Honke, joined the girl gang in Minnesota. Babe enjoyed working for a number of Winner businesses including Wilson Trucking; Doctor Gene Carr Chiropractor; Assman Agency (Tax Preparation); Tripp County Juror Bailiff; and Tripp County Extension work with Dorothy Shetler. She was a dedicated business partner and bookkeeper to "Junior" as they owned and operated the Winner Bus Line, Larsen Construction Co., and the Larsen Unit Step Company of South Dakota "Sioux Falls". Babe and Junior enjoyed many sunny retirement years in Mesa, AZ, near daughter, Pat Tschudy. They quickly collected many "snowbird" friends from other wintery states. Babe has been residing in the Rosewood Memory Care Community for the past two years near daughter, Diane, in Flower Mound, TX. Babe was surrounded by Diane, granddaughter Amber Buescher, loving Rosewood Care Partners and Hospice Angels as she moved on to her new life on January 20, 2015. Family passing before her include: husband Fred "Junior" Larsen; son-in-law Wayne Tschudy; her parents Rose & Henry Lueken; her sisters Alma Tappe, Alice Bloom, Dorothy (Dot) Uken, Gertie Honke, and her two brothers, Norbert and Ray Lueken. Also preceding her in death were her dear in-laws, Amanda and Fred Larsen Sr. Memorials to Babe's life can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO BOX 96011, Washington DC 20090 or online at alz.org.
