Calvin Keith Collins, 82, of Wood, SD passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Facility in Winner, SD.  Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 16 ^th , 2019 at 11:00AM at the Wood Community Hall in Wood, SD.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Calvin was born on July, 27, 1936 to Van and Ruth (Phillips) Collins in Winner, South Dakota.  Calvin grew up on the family farm at Witten, SD with his 1 brother and 2 sisters.

He was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged.  On August 11, 1962 Calvin married Jean Marie Jorgensen and to this union 5 children were born.  He loved his family and his community.  Calvin enjoyed playing cards with his friends, watching and playing all kinds of sports, especially baseball which he played for numerous years.  He also enjoyed cheering on both the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. Calvin loved his cows and loved taking care of the land in his John Deere tractor.  He was always willing to help a neighbor no matter what they needed. Kind and generous best describe Calvin.

Those grateful for sharing his life are his wife Jean of 56 years, five children; Debra, James (Allison), David (Renae), Marty (Jodi), Ryann (Jennifer), 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, 1 brother Vern Collins (Pauline), 2 sisters; Catherine Erickson and Jean Collins and several nieces and nephews.

Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Dick Erickson and grandson Joseph Bobby.
