Betty Eileen (Pesek) Fletcher, 66, of Colome, SD, passed away peacefully with family by her side after her courageous battle with cancer on January 8, 2015, at Avera Gregory Hospital in Gregory, SD. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Winner Assembly of God Church in Winner, SD. Reverend Melissa Fletcher will officiate. Burial will be in the National Hall Cemetery west of Ord, NE, following the Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, January 13 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Melissa Fletcher officiating at the National Hall west of Ord, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm on Sunday, January 11 with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 at the Winner Assembly of God Church in Winner, SD. Betty E. (Pesek) Fletcher was born July 8, 1948, at Sargent, NE to James and Agnes (Vopat) Pesek. She lived on a farm 8 miles east of Sargent starting her education at a country school close by. In March, 1959, the family moved to Loup City, NE, where Betty graduated in 1966 from Loup City High School. She then worked for the Sherman County Extension Service in Loup City. On June 22, 1968, Betty married Jerry Hulinsky of Burwell, NE. They made their home in Grand Island, NE. To this union, one daughter and two sons were born; whom she totally loved and cared for. Over the years, she was employed at Chief Industries, Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Brown Transfer, Chief Automotive, G.I. Express, Cabela's Call Center. Betty was baptized at the Abundant Life Church in Grand Island, NE. On April 4, 2009, she married her high school sweetheart, Lonnie Fletcher, in Colome, SD. They lived on Lonnie's farm southwest of Colome. She worked part-time at Linda's Café and at the Colome Farm Service. She was very active in the Red Hats Society and the Sisters and Survivors, in Winner, SD. Betty never met a stranger. She was a very "special" person--full of love and energy. She thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures and kept them all in her library of photo albums. She loved horses, collected dolls, loved to dance, and was diligently making rugs to give to her loved ones. Most of all, Betty enjoyed living on the farm with the love of her life, her husband, Lonnie; and being loved by all of his family. She never missed a family event if at all possible; as her family meant so much to her. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie of Colome, SD; one daughter, Angie Bryan of Reno, NV; two sons, Scott and Kevin Hulinsky of Grand Island, NE; two grandchildren, Tyler Hulinsky and Tessa Hatcher, both of Grand Island, NE; one sister, Elaine (Jack) VanSlyke of Arcadia, NE, one step-son, Chad (Melissa) Fletcher of Dell Rapids, SD; two step-daughters, Teresa (Jack) Yeaman and Tanya Fletcher, both of Colome, SD; five step-grandchildren, Jeremiah & Elizabeth Yeaman of Colome, SD; Hannah, Kathryn, and Joshua Fletcher of Dell Rapids, SD; mother in-law, Norma Fletcher of Ravenna, NE; Lonnie's brothers and sisters's families, and special brother in-law, Gene Borland of Tyndall, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Joseph and Mary Pesek, James and Stazie Vopat, ex-husband, Jerry Hulinsky, sister in-law, Sheila Shaw, and father in-law, Francis Fletcher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Pink Posse of Winner, SD.
