Betty English, 91, of Winner, SD passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Facility in Winner, SD.  Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD.  Burial will follow in the Winner Catholic Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19th, 2026 from 5-6:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.

Betty L. English joined family and friends in a much better place on Monday, April 13, 2026.  She was born on January 2nd, 1935, in Mellette County, near Wood, South Dakota, to Carl and Gertrude Vondra, the sixth of seven children.

She received her education in Wood and in 1952 graduated from Holy Family School Notre Dame High in Mitchell, where she participated in Glee Club, Choir, and was a yearbook journalist.  After graduating from Notre Dame High School, she attended Presentation College in Aberdeen earning a degree in Education.

She was a loving homemaker devoting her life to caring for her family, talking to strangers, and telling stories.  She was a committed mother who attended multiple family events.  She was the Administrative Professional during the success of her husband's insurance business.  Betty and Leo loved traveling to various places around the world, visiting their kids and grandchildren.  Retirement found Betty at McDonalds drinking coffee and visiting with the locals.  She delighted in the fun times with family and friends.

Grateful for sharing her life are her six children; Doug (Julie), Lori (Kelly), Greg (Ann), Tom (Barbara), Karen (Peter) and Nancy (Jaime), grandchildren; Joseph (Kayla), Adam, Kevin (Morgan), Molly, Nathan, Duncan, Aliyah, and Bailey, great-grandchildren; Rylee, Andrew, Magdalene, Leo, Brother Ray (Jean) Vondra, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Leo English, her parents Carl and Gertrude Vondra, granddaughter Abby English, her siblings; Charles Wondra, Jack Vondra, and his wife Lois, Lawrence Vondra, Mary Sporrer and her husband Donald, Patricia Coyle and her husband PJ.

Through her presence, she was a pillar of our family and instilled values in a manner that will continue for generations.
