Abby Novotny, 47, of Valentine, NE passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2019 at her home in Valentine. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Winner City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6-7PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 7:00PM.

Abby Gayle Novotny was born to the late Joseph and Deonne (Earll) Novotny in Winner, SD on January 14, 1972. She grew up in Winner and was active in 4-H, cheerleading, and pageantry. She graduated from Winner High School in 1990. She then attended Headlines Academy in Rapid City, SD. In 1990 she married Anthony Knodell. Two children were born to this union, JaieCie Jo and Jayd Michael. In 2000, Abby married Kim Hanson. To this union, 1 daughter, Madelyn, was born.

Abby worked for years in Winner as a cosmetologist. Her infectious smile and incredible talent made all of her clients at ease in her chair. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and entertaining her friends and family. In all parts of her life, everything she touched seemed to sparkle. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Abby is survived by her children JaieCie Knodell (Tom), Omaha, NE, Jayd Knodell (Therese), Mission, and Madelyn Hanson of Winner. She is also survived by her sisters, Wendy Smith (Howard) of Piedmont, SD, Keli Bultsma (Larry) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jodi Jaye Crandall (Bill) of Rapid City, SD, and special friend, John Hippler, Valentine, NE.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Novotny III, her mother, Deonne (Earll) Novotny, sisters, Julie and Darcy, and infant brother and her grandparents, Harold and Virginia Earll, and Joseph Jr. and Ruth Novotny.
