John enjoyed farming and raising livestock, planting a garden and working in his yard. He enjoyed watching the Twins play baseball and visits from the grandkids.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Dorothy of 66 years, their children: Richard (Jeanne) Brickman, Winner, SD; Diane (Roger) Studt, Presho, SD; and Karen (John) Cook, Pine Haven, WY, a sister Emma Smit, Yankton, SD, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
