Leo Gregg, 73, of White River, SD, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 in White River.
Leo Claire Gregg was born on February 23, 1937 to Cepter and Margaret Gregg and was raised on a ranch near White River. He graduated from White River High School in 1955. He then continued working on the family ranch until 1961. After leaving there, he worked at various jobs including the Nelson farm, Doniphan, NE, American Crystal Sugar Beet Factory, Grand Island, NE, Aasen Landscaping Company, Minot, ND, Gopher Smelting Industry, Minneapolis, MN.
He worked at the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, SD until November 3, 1966 when he was seriously injured in a mining accident. After several months of recovery, he enrolled in the Lake Area Vocational Technical School in Watertown, SD. He graduated from there on May 29, 1970. for the next several years, he worked as an office equipment technician before he started his own repair shop in White River. He continued operating his shop until he retired in 1996.
In addition to for caretaking his mother, Leo spent much time enjoying his hobby of gardening.
He is survived by his brother Robert (Julie) Gregg, Chamberlain, SD; sister Mary Ellen (Clair) Roth, Minot, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Merle.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White River, SD. Burial will be in the White River Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services.
