Kenny Perry, 64, of Winner, SD, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winner, SD. Burial will be in the Winner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 26, from 4-8 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner.
Kenneth Raymond Perry was born November 4, 1945, to Willard and Thelma (McClure) Perry in Winner, SD. He graduated from Winner High School in 1964; he married Diana Kay Hattig on May 25, 1968 at Zion Lutheran church of Bonesteel, SD. He has been married for 41 years.
Kenny entered the army in 1968 and was stationed in Dachau, Germany. Upon their return to Winner, SD in 1969, two children were born: Kendra (1971) and Scott (1974). Kenny farmed the family farm for many years before becoming a truck driver. Kenny was also an accomplished welder, he could create and fabric anything with a welder.
Kenny loved his children and enjoyed attending their many activities. He was very active in 4-H and was on the Tripp County Fair Board as well as serving on the Western Junior Livestock Board. As a young man, he was a member of the Rosedale Baseball team of 1955 and a member of the Roesdale Township Board. He was an avid race fan and spent many weekends at the Winner Speedway. He also enjoyed the many fishing and hunting excursions with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Kenny was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was always happy and willing to help others.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife Diana, two children Kendra (Jeremy) Koski, Winner, SD and Scott (Molly) Perry, Huron, SD; two sisters Maxine (Frank) Cook, Lynco, WV and Jane (Ted) Kenzy, Winner, SD; two granddaughters Madison and Maggie Perry, Huron, SD; one niece Alice Cook and one nephew Justin Kenzy; one aunt Dorothy New Winner, SD and a multitude of relatives and friends.
Kenny is preceded in death by his mother and father Willard and Thelma (McClure) Perry, mother and father in-law Herman and Alma Hattig, brother-in-law David Hattig, and many relatives and friends.
