Eunice Bruckner, 81, of Winner, SD, passed away quietly at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Facility on Thursday, January 21, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colome, SD. Burial will be in the Colome Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, January 25, from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Eunice Nelson Bruckner was born December 27, 1928 on the family farm near Reliance, SD to Rudolph and Esther Nelson the oldest of five children. The family later moved to Phoenix, AZ where they lived for a time, moving back to Winner after the death of her father.

Eunice married August Bruckner in 1947, they raised three children and ranched for 54 years until August’s death in 2001.

Eunice will be remembered as a thoughtful, caring and giving person. She was an avid gardener, loved people and was active in her church.

She is survived by her children Linda Todd, Gettysburg, Steve (Brenda) Bruckner,
Colome, Harlan (Yvette) Bruckner, Pierre, her grandchildren Mark (Kendra) Todd, Holabird, Jessica (Josh) Larson, Worthing, Amanda (Kip) Schonebaum, Colome, Melody Todd, Apple Valley, MN, and Lindsay Bruckner, Spearfish and a grandson, Kadin Todd, Holabird. She also left behind her brothers Lyle, Greely, CO, Alton (Nadean), Winner, Gary (Linda), Phoenix, AZ, and Kevin (Kelly), Brookings.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and step father, her husband August and one grandson, Michael Todd.
